On being good

The world is like a young man who greatly desired to meet a famous sage. He travelled for many days, but when he arrived at the monastery the monks would not allow him to disturb their master. So he pulled out his knife and killed everyone who stood in his way. When he had made it to the sage’s room, he bowed low and asked humbly: “What must i do to be good?”
